On the 16th of October a group of students from ISEG/IDEFE, plus the lecturers from the Post-graduate degree in Financial Analysis, travelled to Chicago, a financial centre of world importance, especially for derivatives trading.
The work programme, which was full of items of interest from the financial world, included visits to the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT), the annual conference of the Financial Management Association (which included a lecture by a professor from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business – the winner of the Nobel prize for Economics in 2013), the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) and the Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management, where our group was warmly received by Professor Sérgio Rebelo, whom we warmly thank.
There was also time for an extensive and lively social programme during these 5 days in the 'Windy City', which included a trip to the theatre for a Blues show, a Chicago Bulls basketball game, dinner at a well-known Jazz bar and a guided tours of the main tourist attractions of Chicago (Millennium Park, museums, shopping on the 'Magnificent Mile', a river cruise). The architecture of the city never ceased to amaze us.
In 2014 there will be more!
