Yesterday ISEG suffered the loss of a distinguished alumnus and former professor. Joaquim Pina Moura, who graduated in Economics with a postgraduation in Monetary and Financial Economics for our School, had a remarkable career as an economist and a politician in our country, having served as Minister of Finance and the Economy in the government of António Guterres, who stated that “He led a life of great dedication to the public cause, as I myself was able to testify during our years of working together.”
The current Minister of Finance, Mário Centeno, highlighted the contribution of Pina Moura to the “construction of democracy during his political intervention and the development of the country”, pointing out that “his commitment to the service of Portugal will always be remembered.”
ISEG pays tribute to him, publicly recognising his special distinction and offers our heartfelt condolences to his family.
The funeral mass will take place on this Sunday, from 15.00 to 23.00 in the Old Coach Museum in Belém, and the funeral cortege will leave at 14.00 on Monday for the Prado do Repouso cemetery.
