Universidade de Lisboa has gone up 22 positions since last year and now occupies the 206th place in the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) from among the 2,000 universities that were classified world-wide.
ULisboa is in the Top 1.1% world-wide, and in 1st place in Portugal among the other 15 Portuguese universities.
ULisboa’s result is mainly due to its performance in scientific research, where it is ranked among the top 200 world-wide (173rd), having gone up p places in relation to last year.
CWUR has been in operation since 2012 and claims to be the most comprehensive world ranking, which evaluates nearly 20,000 universities, based on four indicators: teaching quality (distinguished alumni), employability of alumni (alumni who hold CEO positions in the largest companies in the world), quality of the faculty (members of faculty who have international awards), and quality of scientific production (publications and citations).
The ranking is dominated by North American universities, with 8 in the top 10, which also includes 2 British universities. The United States leads the number of universities listed in the the ranking followed by China, the United Kingdom, Japan, France, and Germany.
