Breve introdução
The course covers a large and fundamental set of concepts and tools of the modern mainstream theory of Finance that are required to analyse and make corporate financial decisions. Thus, it will start with a review of the role of corporate finance in corporations, followed by an introduction to Decision Theory. The third chapter will focus on financial accounting as it is the language of business. Then, we move to the investment decision, since it is one of the key decisions in Business Finance. Then, we move to portfolio theory and return generating models as necessary steps to calculate the Cost of Capital (chapter 7), which will conclude the set of slides related with the investment decision. Then, we move to the second key decision: the financing decision and the payout policy. The financing decision is followed by an overview on Derivatives and their role in business finance. To conclude I will discuss with you some ideas about researching in Accounting and Finance. It is a very comprehensive and demanding syllabus that will equip you with a strong background on Finance.
