Issues and Debates in Economic Sociology (2 º Sem 2020/2021)

Program

The main purpose is to enable students to contact with current topics of debate and research in the area of Economic Sociology. The themes are structured in four major axes, which correspond to recent lines of research framed in economic sociology:
- Institutions and markets: This axis focuses on recent research based on the evolution of markets and the various institutions that integrate or regulate them. Rabah Benakrouche's interventions on political economy and models of capitalist development, Amílcar Moreira; about accounting Tiago Diogo;
- Social change: Marisa Gaspar will address issues related to tourism and the construction of new identities in contemporary societies;
- Environment and society: Idalina Sardinha will develop the use of the concept of sustainability in the current Portuguese context, and Sofia Bento will address the construction of participatory instruments in environmental governance.
