Case 1 is now available

Dear students,

We hope you and your families are well and healthy.

We inform you that case 1 is now available. The case was only made available today because only today all courses ended chapter number 1.

You can find the case in the Cost Accounting webpage in Aquila, menu Assessment (Avaliação)/ Assignments (trabalhos)/case 1

The delivery deadline is March 14th (Sunday), 5pm (there is no tolerance for this deadline).

Cases must be submitted directly in Aquila menu Assessment (Avaliação)/ Assignments (trabalhos)/case 1, so that you obtain a receipt upon delivery. In case you are not able to submit your work in Aquila, you should send your work via email to the following address:

cancasos@iseg.ulisboa.pt

The cases must be handwritten and submitted/sent in pdf format. There are softwares available that convert photos into pdfs (e.g., camscanner). Pdf files are always better than photos because they have a smaller size and, hence, ensure that there are no problems when uploading/sending the case. Only if you cannot create a pdf, you can send photos.

All students must guarantee that the submitted file has all pages of the case solution. Please be aware that Aquila will only accept one submission and hence you cannot upload multiple files. So you must check your file before uploading.

If you send your case via email, on the subject you should write the case number, your name, number and course. For example: Case 1- 12345 Mary Smith – Management

Students should send the case with cc to their own email and a reading/receiving receipt to have a proof that the case was successfully sent/received. Because some files are too large, some emails are returned later on and students only realize that they missed the deadline some time later. So it is important to ensure that the case was successfully sent/received.

Students will obtain a receipt from Aquila immediately after submission (if the case is submitted in Aquila) or a reply to the email sent later on (if the case was sent via email).

Because graders will read your case on the screen, it is very important that the handwriting is clear. If they cannot read it, your case will not be graded.

Cases can and should be delivered before deadline to avoid last minute problems, such as problems in uploading/sending the email.

All cases delivered after the deadline will be penalized. Only in this way we assure a correct balance for the students that have obeyed to the deadline, sometimes with personal sacrifice.

Please be aware that ISEG has a policy of zero tolerance with plagiarism. COPIED CASES WILL EXCLUDE THE STUDENTS FROM THE CONTINUOUS EVALUATION AND THE PLAGIARISM WILL BE REPORTED TO THE PEDAGOGICAL COUNCIL.

We reinforce the importance of solving the cases as a means to effectively follow the course and prepare yourself for your professional life. Our experience shows that the students who opt for the continuous evaluation have better results, both in terms of approval and in terms of grades.

The case will be solved in the tutorial of 18/3. Tutorials occur every Thursday, 11am, on MS Teams.

Tutorials are taught by Dra. Mariana Tavares Relha, a master student in Accounting, Tax and Corporate Finance.

All tutorials will be recorded and made available in the team chat, so that all students who cannot attend can watch the tutorial later on.

All students who want to attend the tutorial, should go to Microsoft TEAMS access the Teams folder and click on the option " Join or create a Team"("Aderir ou criar uma equipa"), which is available in top right corner of the screen.

In the following screen, you should choose "Join a Team with a code" ("Aderir a uma equipa com código") and insert the following code: 38z816m

Note that to access the recorded tutorial, you must be part of the team, and hence you have to join the team, even if you cannot attend the tutorial in the scheduled time.

Good luck in solving the case and have a nice weekend!

Keep healthy, keep safe!
