Financial Markets and Investments (1 º Sem 2015/2016)

The 2015 Empirical Assigment is now available online.

Besides the case study description the Empirical Assignment has several appendices:

• 3 Questionnaires
• CFA recommendations of the elaboration of IPS for invidual investors

The CFA recommendations are already availbale ONLINE, the questionnaires will be available from tomorrow (they need to be scanned).

The QUIZ 3 will take place on the 22nd of November from 21.30h until 22h.

This quiz has 20 equally weighted questions. Be aware that wrong answers in multiple choice questions lead to discounts. Be sure to submit before the time is over.

Tomorrow, Friday 20 of November there ill on NO CLASS of Financial Markets and Investments (FMI) due to health problems of the teacher.

Instead, at the usal FMI schedule (tomorrow starting at 10h) the students of the Master in Actuarial Sciences wil have class of Probability and Stochastic Processes  (PSP).

The missed class of FMI will be replaced next wednesday, 25th Nov at 11h (the usual PSP schedule).

I believe I have by now fixed ALL the issues concerning the correction of QUIZ 2. I did fix all the grades of all students with the problematic question variations.

The grades of both QUIZ 1 and QUIZ 2 are now official and online.

Given your relatively poor performance in QUIZ 2, I have already decided to do one more quiz.

This means a quiz every second week from now on and until the end of the semester. This will dilute a bit the weight of QUIZ 2 in your evaluation, it will allow you to pratice more CFA-style questions. This way each quiz will also cover less material.

The QUIZ tests until the end of the semester are thus:

• QUIZ 3 (covers Part II, 3.5+4+5): November 22
• QUIZ 4 (covers Part III): December 6
• QUIZ 5 (covers Part IV): December 20

This is just a reminder, to let you know that THIS Friday, November 6 , the usual FMI class from 10-13h for the students of the M. Actuarial Sciences, will take place at Anf 4, Q (and not anf 1 as usual).

The  Second CFA-style online Quiz test is on the  8th of November, at 21.30h .

Students should login to their Aquila accounts in advance and be sure to submit their answers in time.

It is a 30 min test with 20 multiple-choice questions.

The test will be distributed (via Aquila) to all registered students. It is mandatory for those under continuous evaluation and optional to the others.

The materials covered by this Quiz are:

FMI syllabus and slides: Part II, Sections 1, 2 and 3 (except 3.5)

EGBG Book: Chapters 4, 5, 6 +  Chapter 11 pp. 226-232.
