Resumo
A presente dissertação pertente investigar o impacto da relação trabalho-família no engagement dos militares do Exército Português, por se considerar que o trabalho e a família representam papéis predominantes na vida da sociedade atual. Este estudo foi realizado entre maio e junho de 2020, o que coincidiu com o início da pandemia da Covid-19. Assim, considerou-se que o contexto atípico que se vive poderia ter impacto nas variáveis em estudo. Um questionário online foi elaborado, onde se obtiveram 98 respostas de militares. Os resultados obtidos demostraram que o medo de Covid-19 tem diferenças significativas para a o número de horas média de trabalho por semana e esta variável está correlacionada positivamente com o conflito trabalho-família. Encontraram-se para o Engagement, diferenças significativas ao nível das variáveis idade, estado civil, número de anos no Exército e filhos e para a variável relação trabalho-família, foram encontraras diferenças para as variáveis género e número de horas média semanal. Verificou-se igualmente que para os militares do Exército Português, o conflito trabalho-família tem uma correlação negativa com o engagement, enquanto que o enriquecimento trabalho-família está correlacionado positivamente com o engagement. Family and work can be considered as the most predominant and important roles in the present society. With this, the main objective of the present dissertation is to investigate the impact of the work-family relationship on the engagement of the Portuguese army members. The present study was developed between May and July which corresponds to the Covid-19 pandemic. With this, Covid-19 was assumed as a variable that might had an impact on the study variables. An online questionnaire was developed, and 98 answers were collected from Portuguese army members. In terms of the results of questionnaire, it was possible to conclude that the fear of Covid-19 has significant differences in the average number of hours per week and this variable is positively correlated with the work-family conflict. Significant differences in the variables age, marital status, number of years in the Army and existence of children and for the variable work-family relationship were found differences for gender and average weekly number of hours. Additionally, it was possible to conclude that the fear of Covid-19 is positively correlated with the work-family conflict. Moreover, the work-family conflict showed a negative correlation with the engagement and that the work-family enrichment was positively correlated with the engagement.
