This study aims to understand how telecommunications brand loyalty could be created or reinforced by customer knowledge and to what extend could mean a competitive advantage over the competition.
The research was made by using online structured questionnaires to active subscribers of telecommunication services in Portugal.
Analysing the results obtained using two multiple linear regressions, it is concluded that knowledge about and knowledge for customer have a positive impact on loyalty. Of the three dimensions of customer knowledge, knowledge about customer is what most strongly contributes to brand loyalty. However, knowledge for customer is the most influential in creating a consequent competitive advantage.
This study represents a contribution to the advances in the existing literature about Customer Knowledge practices implementation and a useful information resource that allows companies in the telecommunications sector to better manage the information coming from their customers.
