ISEG is a member of the Equal Pay International Coalition (EPIC)

ISEG is officially a stakeholder entity of the Equal Pay International Coalition (EPIC), as the representative of Academia.

EPIC was created in September 2017, at the 72nd Session of the United Nations General Assembly, in an initiative to bring together governments, international organisations, business leaders, unions, business organisations, and representatives of civil society.

EPIC is coordinated by the International Labor Organization (ILO), the United Nations Department for Women (UN-WOMEN), and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OCDE).

The Coalition unites several partner entities which are committed to reducing the gender pay gap. One of its objectives is to support Member States achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDG 8 – which calls for the application of the principle of equal pay for equal work – and also SDG 5 – which aims to implement equality and empowerment for women.

The determination of Professor Sara Falcão Casaca was all important for bringing about this project, to whom ISEG extends its thanks in recognition for her effort.
