PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
In fulfilment of its vocation for education and within the context of the Bologna Declaration, ISEG – Lisbon School of Economics and Management (ISEG) offers 1st Cycle students the opportunity to strengthen and update their ability and skills in the areas of knowledge which are deemed necessary and complementary for their basic education.
The course unit in Personal Development is designed for 2nd Year students, and the Critical Thinking module and UpSkill Week is for 3rd Year students.
CREDITS
Three ECTS credits are awarded for successfully completing the UpSkill Week and passing all five modules of the 2nd Year of the 1st Study Cycle.
Three ECTS credits are awarded for passing all the modules (obligatory and elective) of Critical Thinking in the 3rd Year of the 1st Study Cycle.
The UpSkill Week and Critical Thinking module are mentioned in the Diploma Supplement.
UPSKILL WEEK
The programme aims to develop individual and interpersonal skills during the 2nd Year of the 1st Study Cycle.
The UpSkill Week comprises the following five modules, with the following schedule: Monday to Friday - 9 am to 1:pm and 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm.

The UpSkill Week takes place in the week of 8 to 12 February 2021 (online),.
CRITICAL THINKING
The programme aims to develop critical and systemic thinking during the 3rd Year of the 1st Study Cycle.
The Critical Thinking module comprises the following three modules
The Systemic Thinking module is composed of several elective sub-modules, where it is obligatory to attend only one of them.
The Action Project module is for individual work, where the student chooses their own project: volunteering, an internship, a research centre project, or mentoring.
The Critical Thinking (Sustainable Development Objectives and Systemic Thinking), take place in the week of 8 to 12 February 2021 (online), with the following schedule: Monday and Tuesday from 10 am to 5 pm and Wednesday, 5 pm and 6 pm from 10 am to 12 pm, the last module (Action Project Program) takes place during the school year, and it is the student's responsibility to find a project.

a)You should choose only one of the following options: Experimental Entrepreneurship, Negotiation and Persuasion, Money Lab or Game- Global Challenge for a Sustainable Economy
Projects can only be started as from the 1st of September and have to be completed by the 15th of June of the Academic Year, including the submission of their report, with during which the activity is to be awarded credits.
TRANSITION NORMS (ONLY FOR 2019-2020)
- Those students who have been awarded credits for activities under the previous rules and regulations of the Personal Development course unit can retain these ECTS credits, but must achieve the outstanding credits until they accumulate six ECTS credits during a total of the last two Academic Years of the 1st Study Cycle.
The completion of just the Action Project Programme sub-module, as part of the Critical Thinking module, confers one credit.
Those students referred to in the previous sub-paragraph are obliged to verify their status in the academic portal to confirm the award of credits and should enroll for their chosen modules at the Undergraduates Office by the stipulated deadline.
With regards to the 2020/2021 Academic Year, attendance of the UpSkill Week by 2nd Year students is optional, as is that of the Critical Thinking module by 3rd Year students, subject to enrolment at the Undergraduates Office by the stipulated deadline.
