1911-1918 | The Origins<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The ISEG Library was founded in 1911<\/strong>, when the then Higher Institute of Commerce (ISC)<\/strong>.
\nHe officially took office in 15th April 1914<\/strong>, one year after the start of teaching.<\/p>\n

Its base was the former library of the Industrial and Commercial Institute of Lisbon<\/strong>, It was partially transferred to the ISC, with an initial collection of around 650 books<\/strong> and some of the most prestigious magazines of the time - including the Journal des \u00c9conomistes.<\/em><\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t

1918-1970 | Library<\/strong><\/h3>\n

For several decades, ISEG's library was housed in the current Great Hall<\/strong>, This is a central space in the academic life of the school, which also temporarily housed the Commercial Museum<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In 1918, as part of the growth and diversification of the collection, a building was built balcony<\/strong> specifically dedicated to periodicals, reinforcing the role of the library as a place for study, research and continuous scientific updating.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t

1972-1990 | Transition and Modernisation<\/strong><\/h3>\n

In December 1972 the Room 8<\/strong>, known as Green Room<\/strong>, on the top floor of the Quelhas building. This new space has hosted publications from INE<\/strong>, OECD<\/strong>, UN<\/strong>, Bank of Portugal<\/strong> and scientific journals.<\/p>\n

In the 1980s, when the Quelhas building was being renovated, the documentation was transferred to the Bento de Jesus Cara\u00e7a Building<\/strong>, Rua Miguel Lupi. At this stage, the Information and Documentation Centre (CID)<\/strong>, and the computerising the library<\/strong>, with links to PORBASE and international networks (DIALOG, ECHO, SELEX, SCAD). Bibliographic databases were also made available on CD-ROM - a significant advance for the time.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t

1998 | The New Francisco Pereira de Moura Library<\/strong><\/h3>\n

In 1998, with the expansion of the campus and the refurbishment of the Inglesinhas Convent, the Francisco Pereira de Moura Library<\/strong>.
\nThis modern building, with five floors<\/strong>, is designed to accommodate a constantly growing collection and serve an increasingly international scientific community.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t

The library is part of the ISEG's expansion plan<\/strong> and connects the city to the campus via a pedestrianised route between Rua das Francesinhas and Rua Miguel Lupi.<\/p>\n

With V-shaped floor plan\u201c<\/strong>, The building articulates with the historic complex, while the landscape design creates courtyards and green areas open to the city.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t

Today | An Open Knowledge Centre<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Currently, the Francisco Pereira de Moura Library is one of the largest libraries specialising in Economics and Management in Portugal<\/strong>, The library has a vast physical and digital collection, research support services, open access resources and modern, cosy study spaces.
