ISEG - Lisbon School of Economics and Management is represented in the University of Lisbon's "3 Minute Thesis" initiative, which challenges young researchers to present their doctoral thesis in just three minutes, in a clear, creative and accessible way, to a non-specialist audience.
Three representatives from ISEG were invited to join the panel of science communicators who evaluated the finalist projects from the point of view of evaluation of scientific quality and communication skills:
- Sandra Oliveira, for the area of Social Sciences (scientific quality)
- Ana Moutinho, for the area of Engineering and Technology (communication skills)
- Helena Laymé, for the area of Natural Sciences (communication skills)
The 3MT competition, promoted by Universidade de Lisboa, is an excellent opportunity to highlight the importance of communication in the world of science and academia, and to reaffirm ISEG's active role in promoting impactful research that affects society as a whole.
The final ceremony, with the presentation of the 12 finalist projects, will be held on Wednesday, 22 May, at 18.00, in Pavilhão de Portugal, Lisbon.
The 12 finalists have to explain the impact of their research to a non-specialist audience in just three minutes using a single slide. The 12 will be awarded diplomas of merit and there will be prizes worth €5,000, €2,000 and €1,000 for first, second and third places, respectively.
This will be a moment to celebrate science, creativity and the capacity for synthesis of young researchers from Universidade de Lisboa.
