Professor Antonio Afonso was recently included in the prestigious ranking of the world's most cited researchers, according to the August 2025 update of the study "Updated science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators", drawn up by Stanford University in collaboration with the scientific publishing house Elsevier BV.
This recognition is the result of a comprehensive analysis based on standardised bibliometric indicators, which assess the scientific impact of millions of researchers around the world, taking into account the number of citations, the h-index, co-authorship and impact in different areas of knowledge.
