As of February 7, 2025, all scientific publications resulting from FCT funding, including articles, books, book chapters, doctoral theses and master's dissertations, must be made available in open access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The policy defines three publication channels: <strong>The Golden Way<\/strong> (immediate publication in open access), <strong>Via Verde<\/strong> (deposit in repositories of the RCAAP network) and <strong>Transformative Way<\/strong> (publication in hybrid magazines with transformative agreements). In addition, the retention of copyright and the prohibition of embargo periods ensure that content is accessible to the public without restriction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This initiative demonstrates FCT's commitment to promoting open science, with the aim of increasing interdisciplinarity, scientific cooperation and the social and economic impact of research. To support researchers, a dedicated portal has been created with detailed guidelines and useful resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Why publish in open access?<\/strong><br>The new policy reinforces that publicly funded science must be accessible to all, promoting reuse, visibility and scientific advancement, as well as benefiting society as a whole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For further information, visit
