"Food, Farming and Forestry (F3)"

The Schools of ULisboa are one of the ways of promoting inter-disciplinary initiatives, bringing together researchers from different schools and research units who are associated with the development of new inter-disciplinary areas of knowledge.

The "Food, Farming and Forestry School (F3)" aims to create and translate inter-disciplinary knowledge in the areas of food, agriculture and forestry which have an impact by responding to societal and environmental challenges.

This is in response to such challenges that require new ideas, concepts, methodologies and solutions that are capable of involving different players and their strong points, which is a factor that is strengthened by a holistic view. It is the only way of gathering views and core skills in the areas in question, and thus it generate an efficient and inclusive dialogue between all areas and fields of knowledge, with an integrative perspective of ecosystem services, the economy, health and social welfare, whilst adapting existing practices and challenging current paradigms.

The School's mission is to contribute to economic growth and the satisfaction of human needs, respect for cultural patterns and social traditions and the conservation of natural resources, whilst promoting the connection between fundamental knowledge, applied sciences and engineering solutions to create value at both the national and international level, and to develop innovative programmes in the areas of food, agriculture and forestry.
