IPP – Institute of Public Policy Thomas Jefferson – Correia da Serra is organising a seminar entitled " American lessons for the Euro" on the 4th of May, at 17.30, at the Fundação Luso-Americana para o Desenvolvimento ( Rua Sacramento à Lapa, 21, Lisboa).
The seminar will start with an excerpt from the paper written by Jeffry Frieden (professor at Harvard University) entitled "American lessons for the Euro". After Frieden's lecture there will be the IPP Seminar IPP around table debate with Vitor Bento (Economist, Member of the Strategic Board of IPP), Francesco Franco (Professor at NOVA SBE, Director of IPP), Paulo Trigo Pereira (ISEG, Parliament and IPP), moderated by Luís Teles Morais (ISEG/IPP).
Despite important differences, the American experience is the richest historical source of inspiration for shaping the process of European integration, whether it is headed for a federal Europe, or not. The purpose of this seminar is to disseminate knowledge in the Portuguese public debate about American lessons for European economic integration, in order that it can contribute to the debate, both at national level and also for Portuguese interventions in European forums.
