Forest Fires are a social challenge that require knowledge and science for the formulation of public policies and decisions for key sectors of the economy.
The problem of Forest Fires in the Portuguese countryside represent characteristics of social relevance, complexity and transdisciplinarity.
The College of Food, Farming and Forestry (F3) of Universidade de Lisboa is organising the creation of a "Forest Fire Knowledge Centre", in response to the challenge made by the Association for Forestry Competitiveness (AIFF).
Within this broad national network, the indispensable knowledge that is to be found in all the universities and research centres is integrated in partnership, in order to provide the solution that the country is waiting for in response to this social concern.
