Registration is open for the international workshops organised by the Directorate-General for the Arts, in partnership with the São João National Theatre and ISEG- the School of Economics and Management.

This workshop, entitled "Communication and Marketing in the Arts Sector", will take place at ISEG in Lisbon on 7th May, and at the São Bento da Vitória Monastery – São João National Theatre in Porto, on 9th May. Adam Thurman is President of Mission Paradox, a marketing and branding consultancy, as well as Marketing Director of one of the largest theatres in the US Midwest.


Aware of the challenges facing cultural agents in their work, DGArtes aims to support and promote the training of arts sector professionals in Portugal. The key objectives are the provide Portugal's artistic community with an opportunity to discuss ideas, sharing problems and solutions, in order to allow a greater and better understanding of the tools which are essential to sustainability in this field.


Adam Thurman

President of Mission Paradox, a marketing and branding consultancy. Leads presentations and workshops for the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs, the Civic Knowledge Project and the Arts and Business Council. He is also Marketing Director of one of the largest theatres in the US Midwest. Adam Thurman was a member of the Advisory Board of the League of Chicago Theatres and was recognised as an Emerging Leader by the Americans for the Arts and the Theatre Communication Group.

These workshops are aimed at artists, producers, agents, and students in the fields of culture, communication, and the arts, as well as anyone else who is interested in these topics.


Registration deadline: 3rd May 2013 (Lisbon) / 7th May 2013 (Porto)

Places are limited to 50 participants per session.

Cost: 15 Euros including lunch.
