Abstract: Personal injury often result in loss of future income. When the loss is to be compensated by a lump sum payment, several issues must be addressed, including: the injured’s age, inflation, interest rates, taxation, social security. The talk will show how appropriate compensation can be found in a simplified model, and will also discuss some of the contentious questions.
