Assessment Rules

Economics I (MNG, FIN)

 2020/21, 1st semester

There are two assessment options in Economics 1: the normal period assessment and the appeal period assessment. You can choose one of the periods, according to your convenience. If you take the normal period assessment and fail, you can still take the exam in the appeal period.

The assessment has two components:

 a) a quiz (Q)  and b) the final exam (FE).

To successfully complete Economics I, you must obtain at least 7.0 in the FE (without rounding). If the FE grade is below 7.0, you automatically fail and the final grade (FG) will be that grade.

If the FE grade is at least 7.0,

Your final grade (FG) will be

FG = 0,75 *  FE   grade   + 0,25 * Q  grade,    if  the Q grade is at least equal to the FE grade

FG = FE grade , if the  Q grade is lower than the FE grade.

Therefore, the grade of the Q will only be used to improve the final grade, both when the student is using the normal period or the appeal period to pass.

The Q is an individual 40-minute online quizz consisting of multiple-choice questions. It will be possible to access your notes. The Q will take place on the 17th November theory class. In due time, we will announce the topics covered in the quiz.

The FE consists of multiple-choice questions and open-ended questions and exercises of the type that has been used in previous years. You cannot use any books, notes, electronic devices, or any other learning material. You can use non-graphing calculators, but cannot use graphing ones. The FE in the normal period will take place on the 4th January 2021, 9am. The FE in the appeal period will take place on the 1st February 2021, 12am.

NOTE:  If you have already successfully completed the course but use the appeal period exam to  improve your grade,  the grade of  the  Q  will no longer count .
