Information on the Re-sit exam period

Dear students,

As you know, on the 8th february, 9am GMT (Lisbon time), it is scheduled the Solvency Models exam, which will be carried out online. Please find below some relevant information for those of you taking the exam:

  • - please connect via Teams sufficient time ahead;
  • - your cameras should be on during the whole duration of the exam, directed to you and with some distance, such that I can see your face and your hand writing on the paper;
  • - you can use the chat (privately) or call me via Teams if you have queries on the exam. No headphones, please;
  • - should any problem occurs during the exam, and it is impossible to establish direct contact with me, you should report the incident to the dedicated Exam Helpline: (351) 213 925 855.
  • - when you finish the exam, or when time runs out, you should scan your paper and upload it in the appropriate folder that I will create on Teams. Alternatively, should any problem arises, send it to my email hborginho@iseg.ulisboa.pt;
  • - preferably, you should upload one single pdf file (I advise you to look for an app that works good and test it beforehand). A fallback option is to upload a zip folder with individual photos on a well known format. Please name your file as follows: Solvency Models + (your name) + (nr. of pages)
  • - do not leave the room without confirming with me that I have received your file.

Please see below some additional technical information:

To avoid difficulties with internet access, students should take the following precautions before the start of the exam:

  1. Check which is your "default" browser.
  2. For this "default" browser, check whether you have logged on to any account other than your ISEG school account. If you have, then LOG OUT OF THIS ACCOUNT! If you access the exam via an account other than your own dedicated school account, your exam WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
  3. Access http://portal.office.com and log on to your ISEG school account. After logging on, maintain the browser open, as this will make the process much quicker and easier.
  4. The acceptable browsers are: Microsoft Edge Chromium, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox

The use of any other browser can result in incompatibility problems and accordingly make it difficult to access your exam. In particular, Safari has various incompatibility problems.

------------------

Please also note that I may call you after the written exam for an additional oral exam, during the week 8-12 february.

Let me know in advance if you have any doubts.

Kind regards.

Dear students, The marks for the 1st exam are out. Please note that they are rounded to the closest integer, because Aquila does not accept decimal numbers. But note that the final marks, combining the exam and the group work, are derived from non-rounded figures (rounded was only done once for the final mark).

Dear students, Please note that the grades for the work group are now available. As indicated in the evaluation method document, this grade represents 30% of the final mark, combined with the written exam. Due to COVID, the presentations had to be made at distance. Thus, I decided not to differentiate the grade between students within the same group.
