Overview of Research Interests
Patricia is an associate professor at ISEG - Lisbon School of Economics and Management, University of Lisbon since 2017. Between 2013 and 2017, she worked as a senior researcher in applied economics at the James Hutton Institute (JHI) and prior to that, between 2010 and 2013, Patricia worked as a research associate in the Centre for Transport Studies (CTS) at Imperial College London (ICL).
Patricia develops research in urban and regional economics, economic geography, transport economics and transport geography. Her main areas of interest include the relationship between transport investment, agglomeration economies and economic performance; the causes of spatial disparities in regional development; rural-urban linkages and city-region economies; the relationship between travel demand, sustainable mobility and urban spatial structure; evaluation of urban transport investments; the analysis of output and cost efficiency of public transport operators.
Patricia's research has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals including Regional Science and Urban Economics, the Journal of Economic Geography, the Journal of Regional Science, Urban Studies, Regional Studies, and Transportation Research-Part A Policy and Practice.
