Financial Markets and Management (1 º Sem 2020/2021)

Dear FMM Students,

Here's very relevant information for this week:

1.  CLASSES:  I will not teach synchronously this Monday class at 09:30. I have recorded that class. Please watch the videos. It’s the following sequence:

a.     Class on Financial Options (Lecture Slides and Numerical Examples Explained). I included a few n ore slides than last week, and taught it all again, in case you have doubts. Last week we stopped on Black-Scholes; you can start from. there if you want. Here’s the link for the video of me guiding you through the slides:

3.     Monday November 30^th pm (4pm-6pm) I will be available online to answer any questions you may have on the contents of these materials that I uploaded just now.

4.     Next Steps for YOU:

a.     You should start working seriously on your Group Work Assignments: I need to receive an email with the composition of your groups until Thursday December 3^rd.

b.     Problem Set 4 is for you to solve (individual work), with deadline until Sunday, December 6^th).

5. Regarding P Set 2 Solutions: corrected version uploaded (there was a table incorrectly inserted)

6. Office Hours This week: as usual, on Ffriday 4pm-6pm on MS Teams.

Dear FMM Students:

Please read the following relevant information about our course unit:

1) OFFICE HOURS this week: Unfortunately, this Friday (November 27th) in the afternoon I will be a witness in a Court of Law. Therefore, I will not be able to answer your questions and doubts in the usual weekly timetable (Fridays 4pm-6pm). Sorry about that.

To compensate, I will be available ONLINE on SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 28TH, 6pm-8pm, on MS Teams (Class FMM). In case you have questions, doubts, or wish to chat about the course, feel free to show up.

2) CLASSES ON MONDAY November 30th: ISEG will be closed on Monday and Tuesday (following the Law). But I will still teach online our Monday Class, as usual.

On Monday we will complete the Options lecture notes, problem set #3 (that is to be solved in class), and we will start the capital structure section of the course unit. 

3) ASSIGNMENTS: Please keep in mind that you can (and should) start working on your Group Work Assignments as soon as possible. We have already covered part of that material.

Dear FMM Students:

1. There is an Assignment (PROBLEM SET #2) to solve and submit solutions via Aquila until Monday November 23rd at Noon (Lisbon Time). This is INDIVIDUAL WORK. When you login into Aquila and search for your Assignments, you should find this one. The instructions are clearly written. You must submit a digitalized version of  your solutions (clearly handwritten or in word) or - even better - an excel file.

2. Office Hours to talk, answer questions and eliminate doubts: I have extended the duration of my "virtual" e-office hours on MS Teams. I will be ready to talk with you and answer your questions on Fridays between 16:00 and 18:00 on MS Teams (Class FMM).

Every week I'm in my office on Fridays at 5pm (Lisbon time) to answer questions and doubts form the FMM students. The meetings are "virtual". Just connect on MS Teams (Team FMM-MiM S20) and you can e-find me there.

Our classes start on Monday November 9th at 09:30 (in Auditorium 5, Building Q, if your number is even; in MS Teams if your number is odd).

The FMM course materials for the first week are already avaiulable to download: Course Syllabus, Lecture Notes, Problem Set 1. To better follow the first class it is a good thing if you have access to Excel.
