Objectivos
This course aims to educate students for environmental sustainability; a fundamental professional requirement to enable them to create a better world.
They will be able to learn the practical aspects as well as the concepts related to sustainability and environmental sustainability for business.
Students should understand and improve the main environmental and social issues related to the global (business) world; recognize environmental and social sustainability issues as corporate responsibilities and then regular activities in a business, which can simultaneously guide strategic decisions; and understand the challenges of companies and sustainability managers.
Programa
The programme is based on the multiple areas of work that a manager has to address.
Global concepts of sustainability and environment; national and international reference policies/regulations; introduction to environmental sustainability tools; case studies of environmental and sustainable intervention areas in companies.
Concepts: strong and weak sustainability, natural capital, introduction to circular economy and dematerialization, and environmental and social externalities of companies.
Overview of different sustainability and environmental related tools, e.g. energy efficiency, carbon inventory, green value chain management, supplier involvement and environmental life cycle assessment.
Areas of intervention in companies in case study mode: sustainable business models; materiality assessment and stakeholder involvement; environmental management; sustainable and ecological marketing; ecosystem services; sustainability reporting; sustainable assessment and investments.
