ABSTRACT
The adoption of Agile methodologies, and specifically the Scrum framework, emerges as a manifestation against traditional approaches due to their inability to accept requirements changes during the product development process. Despite its initial use in the IT sector, Agile and Scrum succeeded in showing its ableness to provide benefits for all types of industries independently of its status quo.
The purpose of this project is to highlight the benefits and advantages of the Agile methodology and, more precisely, the Scrum Framework for non-IT product development. Taking those into consideration, the main objective is to evaluate how the product development process of a specific multinational company, that has been using traditional methods across the last years, can benefit from the use of a different framework
The current study starts by reviewing relevant published literature to find the theoretical factors affecting project management and product development processes, to further proceed by adopting an Action Research methodology in order to conduct a problem-based investigation. By combining direct observation with the use of a structured survey that evaluates six different categories of company?s Scrum readiness, this study articulates the exact points where the organization needs to work on and where it does stand, currently, regarding Scrum implementation.
As a result, to foster future implementation, a set of suggestions are defined and the possible benefits are pointed out.
