RENEWABLE AMBITIONS, COLONIAL LEGACIES: THE EUROPEAN GREEN DEAL AND THE LITHIUM TRIANGLE UNDER THE CRITICAL THEORY OF COLONIALITY

Aluno: Lucas De Almeida Itida

Resumo
This dissertation analyses the European Green Deal through the lens of the Critical Theory of Coloniality, unveiling how Europe’s green transition reproduces global patterns of extractivism and dependency driven by a neoliberal recoloniality logic. Focusing on the Lithium Triangle, this research seeks to demonstrate that the EGD externalizes ecological degradation and social dispossession to peripheral regions in the name of sustainability. The findings affirm that ecological transitions driven by the Global North will remain structurally unequal unless grounded in epistemic plurality, territorial justice, and a pluriversal reimagining of growth and development.
