-EMPLOYEE LIFECYCLE: HR PRACTICES IN MARKETING MULTINATIONAL

Aluno: Susana Carina Ferreira Pedro

Resumo
This Final Masters Work reflects the internship carried out at the Barcelona office of a multinational marketing agency. The internship was conducted within the Human Resources department over a five-month period and focused on the practical application of the Employee Life Cycle (ELC) framework to support Human Resource activities and assess organizational practices. Given the evolving nature of Human Resource Management, driven by global labor shortages, rising inflation, and shifting employee expectations, HR functions are increasingly required to deliver flexible, engaging, and development-oriented experiences (Godinho et al., 2023; Govaerts et al., 2011; Rodrigues & Sousa, 2024). Within this context, the internship addressed key HR areas through the five main phases of the ELC: Recruitment, Onboarding, Employability and Benefits, Retention, and Offboarding. Throughout the internship, I was actively involved in daily HR operations such as supporting recruitment processes, managing onboarding procedures, contributing to training and development planning, and facilitating exit interviews. These experiences enabled me to apply and consolidate knowledge gained during the masters in human resources management, particularly in areas related to strategic HR practices and employee engagement. This report consists of a theoretical framework on the ELC, a contextual overview of the company, and a detailed description of the tasks carried out during the internship. It also includes a critical reflection that compares academic literature with the practices observed, highlighting areas of alignment and divergence. The report concludes with final reflections of the internship experience, and recommendations for future improvement of HR practices within a dynamic organizational context.
