Resumo
This master's thesis explores the use of serious games as innovative tools to improve financial literacy. It focuses on the development and evaluation of a stock market simulation game that introduces players to key financial concepts such as risk, diversification, and decision-making under uncertainty. The game is grounded in mathematical finance and utilizes the Normal Inverse Gaussian (NIG) process to simulate realistic stock price dynamics influenced by random events. Adopting the Design Science Research (DSR) methodology, the study involves designing, demonstrating, and evaluating the educational impact of the game. The findings show that the game successfully enhances financial understanding, promotes engagement, and encourages strategic thinking in a risk-free environment. The results suggest that serious games can effectively bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical financial skills, offering a valuable approach to financial education.
