Resumo
This research project addresses the persistent challenges of disability and inclusion, particularly for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), who face systemic barriers to education, employment, and community participation. It analyzes the implementation of Best Buddies International (BBI) in Portugal, an organization that promotes inclusion through five core pillars: one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, leadership development, inclusive living, and family support. The project’s main goal is to develop a business plan for Best Buddies Portugal, providing a strategic framework for its sustainable growth and long-term success. By integrating literature reviews, quantitative data, and stakeholder insights, the project aims to design practical, context-specific strategies that foster empowerment, reduce inequalities, and promote a more inclusive society where individuals with IDD can live autonomous and fulfilling lives.
