Nobel economist in public session at ISEG

Prof. Clive Granger

Clive Granger, Nobel Prize in Economics in 2003, "for having developed methods for analyzing time series with common trends (co-integration)" and for other fundamental contributions to statistics and econometrics, he will be giving a lecture at ISEG's CGD Auditorium, open to anyone who wishes to attend and up to the limit of the space available.

The session will take place from 9:30 a.m. on Friday, January 16th.

The British mathematician and statistician studied at the University of Nottingham, where he began his studies in 1955 and obtained his doctorate in 1959. At the university he held various positions in the mathematics, economics and econometrics departments from 1955 to 1974. From then on, he moved from Nottingham to San Diego and joined the teaching staff at the University of California, where he still works today.

As well as working in the field of statistics and econometrics, Clive Granger has developed studies in demography, economic foresight, financial economics and methodology.

The lecture opens the 5th International Institute of Forecasters' Workshop on the Predictability of Financial Markets, organized this year by Cemapre, ISEG, in collaboration with IIF.
