From October 10th to 22nd, the IDEFE in conjunction with the CEGE/ChinaLogus of ISEG in partnership with The Order of Economists and the InnoChina Academy in China conducted another study visit to China. The main themes of this year's visit program were the Chinese financial system and distribution system.
The group of 12 participants coordinated by Prof. Dr. Fernanda Ilhéu visited the cities of Beijing, Tianjin, Macau and Hong Kong, where they visited a very heterogeneous group of companies, such as ABB, China Three Gorges Corporation, CITIC Bank, Dynasty, EU-China Chamber of Commerce, Binhai New Area, Hovione and GE, and participated in seminars held in these companies, but also in the universities of Tsinghua and Tianjin, where the theoretical knowledge transmitted complemented the practical perspectives of management and business strategy learned during the visits to the companies.
While in Macau, besides attending a seminar on the Pearl River Delta economy organized by AICEP, the group visited the Macau International Fair where they met with several Portuguese businessmen, namely with the Young Entrepreneurs Association Portugal China, who invited the group for a convivial dinner. There was also time to tour some of China's iconic sites, such as the Great Wall or the Forbidden City, the 798 art district and the traditional Hutongs in Beijing, the Ruins of Saint Paul and the temple of A - Má in Macau, or Victoria Peak in Hong Kong, and to learn some Chinese words and internalize some aspects of Chinese culture, including gastronomy.
