The plenary session of the Economic and Social Council (ESC) held on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, confirmed Sara Falcão Casaca as interim President.
The appointment of Sara Falcão Casaca, until now Vice-President of the CES, following the resignation of Francisco Assis.
Sara Falcão Casaca is a Full Professor at ISEG, with a PhD and a degree in Economic and Organizational Sociology. She is also president of Center for Research in Economic and Organizational Sociology (SOCIUS) and coordinator of the PhD in Economic and Organizational Sociology of ISEG. He was President of the CIG - Commission for Citizenship and Gender Equality (Presidency of the Council of Ministers).
The Economic and Social Council is a constitutional body for consultation and social consultation, whose main objectives are to promote the participation of economic and social agents in the decision-making processes of sovereign bodies, in the context of socio-economic matters, and is, par excellence, the space for dialogue between the Government, the Social Partners and other representatives of organized civil society.
