This book, the result of the IV Brazil Portugal Seminar held at the Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão, ISEG, of the Universidade Técnica de Lisboa, held in Lisbon at the end of 2007, as part of an agreement with the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, and on the eve of the bicentenary of the Portuguese royal family's departure for Brazil, motivates us to take a brief look at bilateral relations between Brazil and Portugal in terms of inter-university cooperation and transit.
