Conference: The cultural context in management and leadership.


The Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão, the Swedish Embassy and the Luso-Swedish Chamber of Commerce are organizing the conference - The cultural context in management and leadership, as part of the Swedish National Day celebrations.

The conference will take place at ISEG, Auditorium CGD, on 06|06 from 09H30 to 12H30, with speakers such as; João Duque (President of ISEG), Alberto da Ponte (Director of Sociedade Central de Cervejas), Björn Sällström (SVP HR Volvo), Kristina Johansson (CEO IKEA Portugal) and Luís Nazaré (Professor at ISEG) as moderator, aims to present and debate the main differences or similarities in management and leadership between two countries with such different cultures, such as Portugal and Sweden.

The closing session will also include the participation of Knut Frostad, CEO of the Volvo Ocean Race for the current 2011 - 2012 edition, who will tell us about his intense experience as a sailor on one of the most challenging boats crossing the oceans, the Volvo Open 70. Knut Frostad has taken part in the Volvo Ocean Race four times, twice as skipper, and in the 1988 and 1992 Olympic Games.
As a manager, he currently holds several top positions in prestigious international companies. As well as the extraordinary adventures he has experienced aboard a Volvo Open 70, his management and leadership skills will also be told in the first person, in what is sure to be an inspiring account.
