CORE Economics Workshop

22 May from 09:00 to 16:00
ISEG, Delta Room (Quelhas)

On the 22nd May, ISEG will host a training workshop for members of faculty of the Department of Economics on the CORE Econ (Curriculum Open-access Resources in Economics) teaching approach, which will be implemented at ISEG as part of the restructuring of the syllabus of the Bachelor's Degree in Economics/Economics.

the following members of the CORE Economics team will be speaking and taking part in the workshop: Prof. Dr. G. G. Carlos Cortinhas (University of Exeter), Prof. Dr. M. Eileen Tipoe (Queen Mary, University of London), Prof. Dr. M. Carlos Cabrales (Universidad Carlos III, Madrid), and Prof. Dr. Giovanni. Humberto Llavador (Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona).

The training workshop will take place from 09.00 to 16.00 in the Delta room (Quelhas, Floor 3).

CORE Econ's vision is that the teaching of economics should contribute to a more just, sustainable, and democratic world, in which students are able to understand and debate how best to address the world's complex economic and social problems. The CORE Econ approach is based on an innovative methodology that combines the analytical rigour of economic models and theories with the use of real data to better understand society's problems. The representation of the economy in the CORE Econ approach includes several important elements that are not typically covered in conventional introduction to Microeconomics and Macroeconomics teaching manuals.

The Core Econ approach will be implemented from the 2025/26 Academic Year in the first-year course units of Microeconomics and Macroeconomics of the Bachelor's degrees in Economics, Management, and Finance.

The workshop programme is available on this link.
