Development Studies Seminars | Reimagining Urban Superdiversity

18 Apr from 18:00 to 20:00
ISEG, Novo Banco Lecture Theatre (Quelhas)

A seminar on "Reimagining Urban Superdiversity" on the 18th April 18th, at 18.00, presented by Kamila Krakowska, from the University of Leiden (Netherlands).

In her research, Krakowska addresses the question of how (postcolonial) cultural identities are negotiated and represented in the contemporary and globalised Portuguese-speaking world, with a special focus on African and Afro-descent communities. Through the analysis of different media (written and oral literatures, cinema, and audiovisual production), she attempts to provide a better understanding of the concept of (un)rootedness, belonging, migration, and displacement, narrated by canonical and future Lusophone writers, filmmakers, and performers.

The seminar will take place in the Novo Banco Lecture Theatre (Quelhas, 4th Floor).

Free admission. Application period now open on this LINK.

This event is part of the Development Studies Seminars Cycle, an integral initiative of the PhD in Development Studies . Further information and the full programme can be accessed HERE.
