At the start of the academic year, the President of ISEG and the Chairman of the Economics Department have the honor of promoting a session in
tribute to Professors Jorge Santos and Joaquim Ramos Silvawhose retirement and retirement, respectively, took place in 2018. Both were Chairs of the Department of Economics during a continuous period from 2010 to 2018, during which our School experienced important changes and improvements. In fact, both with more than four decades of teaching, research and academic management activities at ISEG, they accompanied the evolution of the school and contributed to its profound renewal. Naturally, with different personalities and vocations, Professors Jorge Santos and Joaquim Ramos Silva nevertheless had common points, some of which were characteristic of their generation: long stays abroad where they did their doctorates; active participation in university management, not only in the Economics Department, but also in the School's more global direction; responsibility for a wide range of curricular units and coordination of courses at various levels; and also the fact that they reached the highest rank in the university teaching career - Full Professor, with Professor Jorge Santos being Dean of the DE at the time of his retirement.
The tribute will take the form of a dinner meeting, to be held on the following day

We call on all ISEG departments, teachers and non-teaching staff, students and alumni to take part in this tribute, so that it is not only a sign of recognition for the two illustrious professors who are entering a new phase in their lives, but also a moment for everyone to get together, celebrate the past and think about a future that will further reaffirm the strength of our School.
