Kapuscinski Development Lectures | Can behavioral science improve public policy?

Nov 13 from 18:00 to 20:00
Amphitheater 1, Quelhas

Two years after the first Kapuscinski Development Lectures organized in Portugal, the Centre for Studies on Africa, Asia and Latin America (CEsA-ISEG/ULisboa) brings to Portugal, with the support of the European Commission and UNDP - United Nations Development Programme, Simon Ruda, an international expert on behavioral science and its influence on improving public policies in developed and developing countries.

The lecture, which will take place at ISEG on November 13, introduces the concept of behavioral science - what it means and how it works - using examples from laboratory experiments and practical applications in the field around the world to demonstrate the different aspects of the discipline. The lecture will also seek to describe how the Behavioural Insights Team has applied, and evaluated, this approach in various areas of domestic policy, as well as in some relevant areas in middle-income and developing countries. Simon Ruda will draw mainly on real-world examples - large-scale field trials carried out by the Behavioural Insights Team and its partners in the UK Government and other Governments worldwide.

Given the limited number of seats in the room, prior registration is required until November 11.

This session will be broadcast live on the channel http://www.ustream.tv/channel/kapuscinski
