Meeting | Micro-credit and Micro-entrepreneurship: Present and Future

18 Apr from 13:30 to 18:00
Aud. CGD

ANDC - National Association for the Right to Credit organizes on April 18 a meeting on " Micro-credit and Micro-entrepreneurship: Present and Future" at ISEG, Auditorium CGD.

After about 20 years since the introduction of microcredit in Portugal, by ANDC in partnership with IEFP and BCP Nova Rede, which was later joined by other banks that joined the concept in an innovative understanding of their social responsibility, it is an opportune moment to take stock of the experience and its lessons and to discuss the role of microcredit in the context of the challenges facing inclusive microentrepreneurship today.

The detailed analysis of the results of ANDC's action over 18 years will be published at the Meeting, fulfilling the objectives of accountability and giving back to society the lessons learned.

This balance confirms the need to ask ourselves about the challenges facing micro-entrepreneurship today and the responses needed at this time.

As the beginning of a debate that should hopefully be broad and culminate in a national conference, this Meeting aims to start listing the questions and the answers that can be given to them, such as: what is the effective role of micro-entrepreneurship in economic and social development? How can the instruments supporting inclusive micro-entrepreneurship reach their potential users? Where are the major barriers to economic initiative for people in vulnerable situations? What are the needs of micro-entrepreneurs and micro-enterprises? What can be learned from the good practices of international partners?
