"The Musicians of the Tagus"

New musical project in the field of early music founded and directed by Marcos Magalhães and Marta Araújo.
Since 2005 they have developed a partnership with the CCB that has led them to produce three operas, edit two records, perform in numerous concerts in Portugal and abroad and have been the subject of various institutional support (Gulbenkian, Oriente and Stanley Ho Foundations; Lisbon City Council, General Directorate of Social Reinsertion and Camões Institute) and patronage (AMARSUL, private patrons).
The operas "La Spinalba" by F. A. de Almeida, "Lo Frate Nanmorato" by G.B. Pergolesi" and "Le Carnaval et la Folie" by A.C. Destouches, premiered at CCB, have been received with great success at the public level and have obtained enthusiastic reviews from all the specialized critics (Publico, Diário Notícias, Jornal de Letras, Expresso).
The opera "La Spinalba" has toured Portugal and Spain and is now in its tenth performance.
The record "As Sementes do Fado" (with Ana Quintans, Ricardo Rocha and Marcos Magalhães) got 4 stars (out of 5) in the newspaper "Público" - Ipsílon and was considered by the critics of JL as one of the best national records of the year 2007. Thanks to this record, the program Sementes do Fado has already been presented 6 times, including in Paris and Sastamala (Finland), and next July in Prague.
The album "As Árias de Luisa Todi" (with soprano Joana Seara), which presents the repertoire sung by the famous Portuguese Prima-Donna of the 18th century, also obtained 4 stars (out of 5) in the newspaper "Público" - Ípsilon.
Músicos do Tejo have performed in concert in places as varied as Mafra, Vigo, Brest, Paris and Goa in India.
In the fall of 2012 his recording of the opera La Spinalba by F. A. de Almeida will be published by Naxos with the support of Dgartes, CML and ISEG.
Músicos do Tejo is supported by the Lisbon City Council.
