Seminar | Behind and Beyond the "Curtain" of China's and Japan's Development Co-operation to Africa and the Palop

The next seminar in  Development StudiesThe event, organized by CEsA / CSG on 31 March, will be led by Professor Pedro Raposo (from the Lusíada University Law School), and will analyze China and Japan's Development Cooperation policy for Africa, more specifically for the Portuguese-speaking African Countries (PALOP).

After a brief introduction to how Development Cooperation has changed in recent decades, the seminar will focus on the changes in China and Japan's Development Aid policies in the post-Cold War period and their implications for the paradigm shift at a global level.

China followed its own path in its Development Cooperation strategy, while Japan remained aligned with the standards of the OECD Development Assistance Committee.

Professor Pedro Raposo will analyze what lies behind (motives and interests) and beyond (its effectiveness and results) the cooperation policy of both Asian countries.

The session will start at 6pm in Amphitheater 1 (Ed. Quelhas).
