EWMD Portugal - the European Organization for the Development of Women's Management Skills - is organizing its 1st Seminar of 2010 "Emerging roles in health: from the technologies to health technocracies", with Helena Serra as guest speaker. Helena Serra is an Assistant Professor at the Higher Institute of Economics and Management (ISEG), Technical University of Lisbon, and a researcher at SOCIUS (Centre for Research in Economic and Organizational Sociology), where she coordinates the Science, Technology, Health and Professions research line. She has been developing research in the areas of sociology of organizations, sociology of professions and sociology of health. Recent publications include, in addition to several articles in national and international journals, the publication in 2008 of the book Médicos e Poder: Transplantação Hepática e Tecnocracias (Doctors and Power: Liver Transplantation and Technocracies) and, in 2006, the co-authored book Sociologia da Saúde. Studies and Perspectives.
