Tertulia | Exit from the Euro is an Objective Necessity

It takes place on May 21stat 19h30, in the Auditorium 3 (Quelhas), a Tertulia with the theme " Exiting the Euro is an Objective Necessity".

The speaker is Dr. Octávio Teixeira (former ISEG student).

Dr. Octávio Teixeira, married, 70 years old, graduated in Finance from ISCEF (now ISEG)
Professionally, he was a technician at Lisnave, Banco de Fomento and Banco de Portugal.
In the latter, he served successively as delegate to private credit institutions, member of the administrative committee of Banco Borges & Irmão, head of the banking activity coordination service and technical consultant.

In terms of associations, he was a member of the board of the ISCEF Students' Association, the board of the Economists' Union and the first board of the Portuguese Economists' Association (now the Order of Economists).

In terms of political activity, he took part in the 1973 election campaign, supporting the CDE, and joined the PCP in May 1974.
He was a member of the PCP's Commission for Economic Affairs, its Central Committee and its Political Commission. He was a member of parliament between January 1980 and June 2001, and chairman of the PCP Parliamentary Group from 1991 to 2001.

Now retired, he is a committed partisan who seeks to intervene in the country's civic and political life.
