Biography
Ana Fernandes is an Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Lisbon, ISEG School of Economics and Management, since 2023. She is an Editorial Board member of The World Economy. Her research interests are in Applied Microeconomics, in particular International Trade, Labor Economics and Development Economics. Her research has been published in leading field and general interest journals such as Journal of International Economics, Journal of Development Economics, Journal of Human Resources, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, International Journal of Industrial Organization and European Economic Review. Her research has been Funded by International and National funding bodies such as the Nuffield Foundation, European Union and Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia. She was awarded a prestigious British Academy Mid-career Fellowship in 2023.
Ana spent most of her career in the United Kingdom where she held tenured faculty positions at the Universities of Exeter and Sussex, and was previously a Research Associate at the London School of Economics and Political Science. She held visiting research positions at the World Bank and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
