Mobility in the European Union

The Erasmus+ Programme offers professors the possibility of doing a teaching mobility in a higher education institution in the European Union.

Faculty mobility for teaching assignments represents a crucial component in the academic career of professors, promoting greater cultural and academic diversity. These programmes provide the ideal conditions for academic and professional development in an international context, boosting the enrichment, diversity and depth of the syllabus.

Subsequently, submit the aforementioned documents to the Fénix platform, including the Teaching AgreementThis document, signed by the teacher and the host university, approves the teacher's teaching plan.

Grants

Once the professor has been admitted, the Rectorate's Mobility Centre issues an Erasmus+ Teacher Contract, through which the Erasmus+ grant will be awarded.

The reference value for the STA Scholarship is €1,050.00 (average of 5 days of teaching mission funding).

The Erasmus grant is made up of a per diem individual support amount and a travel allowance amount. Both amounts are based on the Table Scholarships approved annually. The table presented is valid for the current academic year 2024/2025.

Travelling:

Under the Erasmus+ Programme, travel costs are reimbursed based on the distance in kilometres between ULisboa and the host institution.

To do this, the distance is calculated using the European Commission's online tool:

Distance Calculator

The distance in kilometres will then be included in the range of values in the Erasmus grant table, in order to identify the value of the respective travel band.

Individual support:

Individual support is based on a "per diem" value defined for groups of countries, taking into account the duration of mobility

The amounts can be up to 100% between the 1st and 14th days of mobility. From the 15th day onwards, grants will be awarded up to a maximum of 70%.

When allocating individual support, it is possible to combine the allocation of days with and without a grant.

Payment of grants:

The grant is paid once the Erasmus+ Teaching Contract has been signed.

Changes to the mobility period may imply a reformulation of the grant amount.

End of Mobility

Up to 15 days after mobilitythe professor must submit the following documents to the International Mobility Office:

  • Declaration issued by the host institution indicating the days of the teaching assignment and confirming the number of hours taught, signed and stamped, no later than 15 days after the end of the mobility;
