ISEG and BNP PARIBAS PORTUGAL join forces to educate the generation of the future in financial markets

  • The two entities are going to offer a new specialised programme in ‘capital markets’ and ‘securities operations’ at the beginning of the next academic year.
  • This specialisation included the teaching of course units by professors from ISEG, from the  Université Lumière Lyon 2, and also by professionals selected by BNP Paribas Portugal.
  • Students who study for this specialisation could be fast-tracked for the BNP Paribas recruitment process.

ISEG and BNP Paribas Portugal announce the creation of a new specialised programme in ‘capital markets’ and ‘securities operations’, which will receive its first students in September, 2021. This specialisation includes both theoretical and practical components, with the aim of providing students with in-depth knowledge about capital markets and stock market operations, which will prepare them to face future professional challenges.

Target participants for this programme are ISEG undergraduates of Finance, Management, or Gestão.

The above-mentioned specialisation will be jointly coordinated by Professors Ana Venâncio and Helena Jerónimo from ISEG and Professor Frederic Jouneau from Université Lumière Lyon 2. “This is a critical area for all students of Finance and Management, as it demands very technical knowledge with a level of expertise that is difficult to find in the market”, affirms the Coordinator of the ISEG Bachelors in Finance, Professor Ana Venâncio. “Although the syllabi of our Bachelor’s degrees already offer a basic preparation in these areas, this specialisation is the missing piece on our chess set. It represents a novelty in our course offer which aims to provide a practical complement to academic education, whilst at the same time enabling our students to start straight away in the job market”, she concludes.

“BNP Paribas was one of the first foreign banks to expand its operations to the Portuguese market, about 35 years ago, and nowadays has clearly consolidated its position and commitment in Portugal, with investment in education being a strategic part of its value offer”, affirms Vera Leitão, Head of Communications of BNP Paribas in Portugal. “By studying for this specialisation, students gain a huge competitive advantage starting from the moment they finish their degree. Their contact with real-life practical cases equips them with the ability to acquire essential skills required for a career in financial markets, complementing their theoretical knowledge with the perspective of experienced professionals in this area. This knowledge is recognised by fast-tracking the recruitment process should they decide to come and work for us”, she concludes.

Fast-tracked recruitment
The partnership between ISEG and BNP Paribas guarantees privileged access to the job vacancies for the Bank in Portugal. On completing the specialisation, those students who apply for the recruitment process are automatically fast-tracked, which enables them to participate in a first round of interviews without needing to carry out the habitual pre-selection tests which apply to all candidates.
