Technical University of Lisbon receives European Commission Quality Seal

The Technical University of Lisbon (UTL) has been awarded the "seal of quality" by the European Commission - the ECTS LABEL (European Credit Transfer System).

The Technical University of Lisbon was one of 22 European higher education institutions to receive this label, which attests to the quality of the information on the training offer and the management of student mobility within the European Higher Education Area. Alongside UTL are the universities of Aveiro, Minho and the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar.

The award of the ECTS Label is part of the Technical University of Lisbon's strategy to internationalize education and implement the recommendations of the Bologna Declaration, UTL said in a statement.

Out of a total of 2,000 higher education institutions with the Erasmus University Charter, 66 applied for this certificate. In Portugal's case, seven applied, five were shortlisted, but only four higher education institutions were awarded the label.

The universities of Aveiro, Minho, Técnica de Lisboa and the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar are among the 65 higher education institutions from 16 European countries that have demonstrated "excellence" in the application of the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System and the Diploma Supplement.

The award ceremony, sponsored by the European Commission, took place in Brussels on June 11th.
