"EWMD Portugal - Female Leadership Award" awarded to Ana Maria Machado Fernandes, CEO of EDP Renováveis on November 6th at ISEG.

On November 6, 2009 at ISEG - Rosalina Machado member of the Advisory Board of EWMD Portugal presented, for the first time, the "EWMD Female Leadership Award" to Ana Maria Machado Fernandes, CEO of EDP Renováveis, during the conference "EWMD - Leadership in the 21st Century".

The jury responsible for the choice highlighted the contribution of Ana Machado Fernandes in the organizations where she passed, leaving the strong mark of an efficient and effective change agent, who always sought unity inside and outside her organizations.

"It is an honor to be able to give this award to Ana Maria Fernandes," said Teresa Lacerda, President of EWMD Portugal. "We are very pleased to be recognized for her leadership capable of facing the challenges of the 21st century."

The EWMD Female Leadership Award is given to a woman who is both a member of an organization with moral and ethical integrity, who makes an exemplary and outstanding contribution to social responsibility, who provides career-family balance in her organization, and who possesses an outstanding ability to communicate and to take responsibility.

The jury of five, including men, was tasked with choosing three names from the 25 nominees. The final discussion and decision meeting was held on November 2. In addition to the winner, Vera Pires Coelho, President of Edifer, Fátima Aveiro, General Manager of Unilever-Jerónimo Martins, Judite Mota, Creative Director of Young & Rubicam, Isabel Ferreira, President of Banco Best, among others, were also nominated.

ABOUT Ana Maria Machado Fernandes
46 Years

Education: Economics, University of Porto, post-graduation in Finance and MBA, Porto Management School.
Route:
She began her career in 1986 as a technician at Conselho, a company of the Banco Português do Atlântico (BPA) group, and in 1989 took up a post at EFISA, where she became director. Between 1989 and 1991, she was an assistant professor at the Faculty of Economics in Porto.
In 1992, she joined the Banco Fomento e Exterior group as a director. From 1996 to 1998, she was head of corporate finance at BPI in Oporto.
In 1998, she joined Gás de Portugal as a director. In 2000, she became a director of Transgás. In 2004, she became a director of Galp Energia and President and CEO of Galp Power.
