On the initiative of Antena 2/RTP and Metropolitana, the Music for a Cause concert with the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa will take place on September 30, 2011 at 9pm.
The initiative to bring music to children's hospitals came from a realization: children need something to cheer them up and help them endure the sometimes painful treatments. In these contexts, music, with its ability to seduce, can work miracles. The idea is to spread music and good cheer throughout hospitals in the Lisbon metropolitan area that have pediatric inpatient units, using portable CD players.
Antena 2 and the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa (OML) have therefore decided to organize a charity concert, the proceeds of which will go exclusively towards the purchase of these stereos.
The concert will take place on September 30, at 9pm, in the Hall of the Students' Association of the Faculty of Medicine of Lisbon (AEFML), located in the Santa Maria Hospital, at Av. Prof. Egas Moniz 1649-035 Lisboa.
The OML, conducted by Christian Ludwig, will perform the Nutcracker and Swan Lake Suites by P.I. Tchaikovsky.
Tickets can be purchased directly from the AEFML, at the Metropolitana headquarters and between 8pm and 9pm on the 30th at the concert venue. For more information, see the flyer attached.
